![]() In total, there are 12 shortswords (none of which Hardmode-exclusive) andĨ8 broadswords (42 of which Hardmode-exclusive). There are currently 100 different swords available in Terraria, 42 of which are Hardmode-exclusive. Broadswords have a longer range and are swung over the player's head. (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Terra Blade only receives 75 of melee speed bonuses. (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The swords projectile will graphically disappear upon leaving the players screen but will be visible again if they teleport in its direction. In the PC version, Console version, Mobile version, and tModLoader version, shortswords protrude towards the mouse in all directions similarly to spears, and have a minimal range of motion, while on Old-gen console, Windows Phone, Old Chinese, 3DS, and tModLoader Legacy, they only protrude horizontally in front of the player. Effects from a flask will apply to the swords projectile as well. Most swords can be classified as either shortswords or broadswords. Some swords shoot projectiles, allowing to deal damage to enemies from medium range. Swords progress through the various tiers of ore and other crafting materials, with some unique swords available only as loot later in the game. The Copper Shortsword is given to the player at the beginning of the game ( Wooden Sword on the Nintendo 3DS version Iron Shortsword in Journey Mode ). Though I have no alternates, so I won't complain.Swords are the player's basic melee weapon, available from the beginning of the game. If it's to be stronger than a Death Sickle, why not make the crafting recipe be Death Sickle + Ectoplasm? Also, if it's stronger, please elaborate? More damage, more light, more range, longer effect, can it go through blocks, etc.? It has a possiblity to be used as an exploration item with more light and range, as some people use the Death Sickle for this purpose due to its lighting and clipping. Dream Sickle: This seems easier to attain than a Death Sickle, so it seems like it should be weaker than a Death Sickle.A new mushroom sword fits in nicely with this theme. The Truffle sells Hammush - a mushroom hammer - that can also break Demon Altars. Although it is noticeably more damaging and larger than the Lights Bane, it attacks slower. It is the Crimson variant of the Lights Bane, and as such can be used as a substitute for forging the Nights Edge. Furthermore, the WoF drops the Breaker Blade and the Pwnhammer (destroys Demon Altars). The Blood Butcherer is a Pre-Hardmode sword crafted solely out of Crimtane Bars. Shroom Breaker: Yes please! The massive size of the Breaker Blade is rather unique, but it doesn't seem to have any reasons to use it.Maybe compare it to the Horseman's Blade, which only summons pumpkins upon contact and is a perfectly usable sword otherwise. Beetle Keeper: How long do the beetles last? And are they created on any swing, or only swings that come into contact with an enemy? If the primary purpose of the sword is the beetles, it sounds more like a magic weapon than a melee weapon.I nearly always like the idea of new items to collect, so that alone is enough for me to support! But for the sake of raising some points. I'm not a numbers person, so I won't comment on that. But I guess multiplayer servers can ban items?)Īnyway - the other swords. It's basically useless for Fishron or the Moon events. It's not going to guarantee you defeat Plantera or Golem. ![]() The Terra Blade isn't the be-all end-all. Who cares how people play their game?* A mechanical boss must still be defeated for Hallowed Bars and a Solar Eclipse. I really don't understand the dislike of and needing to "gate" the Terra Blade. If we gate the Excalibur, we are technically gating the Terra Blade, since the Excalibur is a component in the Terra Blade. Summons a projectile that acts exactly like the Death Sickle's projectile, but stronger.Ī small sword (but not a shortsword), replacing the Excalibur in the Hallowed tier. Upgrade to the Breaker Blade, with massive range. Releases a barrage of 2-4 non-piercing insane-knockback homing beetles to attack enemies. Why not fix this? And as I thought of this, I came up with a way to gate the Terra Blade that you probably haven't thought of. Now, not even Beetle has a sword to speak of, let alone Shroomite and Spectre. Blades of Grass, Muramasas and Phaseblades may have been associated with armor sets that weren't melee, but they still had swords. This started as me thinking "Remember when every tier had a sword?" Back in 1.1, if there was an armor set, you knew that you would get a sword to go with it. ![]()
